Preparation

  • Shake the container of Clostridium Difficile Agar well.
  • Suspend 69.1 g of the medium in 1 liter of purified water.
  • Autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes.
  • Cool to 45 – 50°C.
  • Aseptically add 7% horse blood, and contents of 2 vials of CCFA Supplement.

STORAGE

The medium powder should be kept tightly closed and stored at temperatures below 30 degrees Celsius, and the medium should be stored at a temperature of 2-8 degrees Celsius. The best time to use is before the expiration date printed on the product label.

  • Dehydrated Appearance: Cream to yellow, free-flowing, homogeneous.
  • Prepared Appearance: Basal medium: Light amber, clear to slightly opalescent gel. With 7% v/v defibrinated horse blood: Cherry red, opaque.
  • Cultural response was observed under anaerobic condition after incubation at 35 – 37 ˚C for 48 hours.
