Preparation
- Shake the container well to homogenize the powder. Weigh 44.4 grams of the powder and dissolve it in 1 liter of distilled water.
- Heat it gently until the medium is completely dissolved.
- Autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes.
- Allow it to cool down to a temperature of 45-50 degrees Celsius.
- If necessary, add 5-10% volume/volume defibrinated blood. If chocolate agar plates are required, heat them after adding the blood as well.
- Pour it into sterile Petri dishes.
Note
- Biochemical tests are needed for the complete identification of bacteria.
STORAGE:
Store dehydrated medium below 30 °C and prepared medium at 2-8 °C. The best time to use is before the expiration date printed on the product label.
