Bromocresol Green

General description: Bromocresol green (BCG) is a dye of the triphenylmethane family (triarylmethane dyes). It belongs to a class of dyes called sulfonephthaleins. This compound is used as a staining dye in agarose gel electrophoresis, protein determination, and in the process of complexing charge transfer.

Application: Bromocresol Green is used as a pH indicator in applications such as growth mediums for microorganisms and titrations. Bromocresol green is used in TLC to identify compounds with low pKa functional groups.
