Preparation
- Shake the container of Cary & Blair well.
- Suspend 12.6 g of the powder in 991 mL of purified water. Mix well.
- Heat with frequent agitation and boil for 1 minute to completely dissolve the powder.
- Cool to 50°C and add 9 mL of 1% aqueous calcium chloride.
- Adjust the pH to approximately 8.4, if necessary.
- Dispense in 7 mL amounts in 9 mL screw-capped test tubes. Steam for 15 minutes. Cool. Tighten caps.
STORAGE
The medium powder should be kept tightly closed and stored at temperatures below 30 degrees Celsius, and the medium should be stored at a temperature of 2-8 degrees Celsius. The best time to use is before the expiration date printed on the product label.
