Application: For the identification, confirmation, and counting of coliform bacteria in water. Also for the identification and separation of coliforms from milk and dairy and food products.

Preparation

Shake the bottle containing the Endo agar powder well. Weigh 41.5 grams of the powder and dissolve it in 1 liter of distilled water.
Heat the mixture until the powder is completely dissolved.
Autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes.
Allow it to cool to 50 degrees Celsius. Mix well and pour into sterile Petri dishes.

STORAGE:

Store dehydrated medium below 30 °C and prepared medium at 2-8 °C. The best time to use is before the expiration date printed on the product label.

Dehydrated Appearance: Fine, homogeneous powder that may contain a large amount of minute to small dark particles.
Prepared Appearance: Light to medium, pink rose to tan rose trace orange, moderately hazy to hazy. May contain a moderate amount of small dark red particles and a large amount of minute dark red particles.
Cultural Response after inoculation and incubate at 35 ± 2°C for 24-48 hours.
