Application: The recommended culture medium for a wide range of microorganisms including fastidious microorganisms such as Hemophilus, Neisseria, Pasteurella, Brucella, and Lactobacillus.

Preparation

  • Shake the container well to homogenize the powder. Weigh 44.4 grams of the powder and dissolve it in 1 liter of distilled water.
  • Heat it gently until the medium is completely dissolved.
  • Autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes.
  • Allow it to cool down to a temperature of 45-50 degrees Celsius.
  • If necessary, add 5-10% volume/volume defibrinated blood. If chocolate agar plates are required, heat them after adding the blood as well.
  • Pour it into sterile Petri dishes.

 

Note

  • Biochemical tests are needed for the complete identification of bacteria.

 

STORAGE:

Store dehydrated medium below 30 °C and prepared medium at 2-8 °C. The best time to use is before the expiration date printed on the product label.

  • For Candida albicans and Aspergillus brasiliensis inoculate using fresh broth cultures and incubate at 30 ± 2°C for 18-48 hours.
