Preparation

  • Shake the container well to homogenize the powder. Suspend 52.2 grams in 1 L of distilled water.
  • Autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes. Autoclavation at 118 °C results in better growth of Bifidobacterium spp.

 

STORAGE

Keep dehydrated and prepared medium at 2-8 °C.

  • Dehydrated Appearance: Tan, homogeneous, appears moist.
  • Prepared Appearance: Medium amber, clear to very slightly opalescent
  • Cultural Response after inoculation Lactobacilli MRS Broth and incubate at 35 ± 2°C for 3 days up to 5 days.

 

Notes

  • Different organisms can exhibit different growth patterns on a medium due to their distinct growth requirements.
  • More biochemical and serological tests are required for complete identification of the bacteria.
